DAY 5 11/1/15

Today we woke up early as we were going to go exploring Fremantle. We took the public bus from our hotel to Fremantle Station.

As you probably see from the pictures, Fremantle is an amazing historic city. I immediately fell in love with the place, as every single building is old from the 1800's.

Our first stop was the E shed markets where enjoyed shopping for some cheap souvenirs. We also happened to get a good look at the Fremantle docks, which is where cruise ships happen to stop.

We then made our way to the Fremantle Roundhouse. Which is the oldest public building circa 1836 in all of Western Australia, built to house convicts from the colony until 1886. It was a pleasure to visit this gem of Fremantle.

As you can see there's an original cannon here, and every day at 1pm they fire it. And boy oh boy is it loud.

This hole in rock face is a whaling tunnel, that gave direct access into the city of Fremantle for whalers who had a station here back in 1838.

We then enjoyed some fish and chips for lunch, from Kali's Seafood. This happened to be the best fish and chips I've ever had, I'm sorry we didn't take any pictures of it.

Our next stop was then the Fremantle Maritime Museum - Shipwreck Galleries. Here this whole museum is dedicated to a wreck of a dutch VOC ship called the Batavia. Everything was original, and the the timber part of the ship seen below is from a shipwreck in 1629!!! There's a good story to the whole shipwreck but I won't spoil it. As much as I wanted to stay longer, Daniel had enough after a few hours.

We had a peak at Fremantle railway station, which looked historic.

Our last stop in Fremantle was dinner in a restaurant called Sandrinos. This was one on the main road of Fremantle. We ordered a garlic and prosciutto pizza, both tasted good. I would sum this pizzeria as a tourist trap and not a very authentic Italian experience, nether less we enjoyed ourselves here before our return to the hotel.
